This is a CD born out of love and obsession. A love of music and an obsession with capturing it for the archives. It's a tribute to the people who make such great music and to Kel and Stan for persisting through thick and thin in keeping that music coming.

Ardent music archivist and audio engineer, Rob Harwood, has produced a compilation album of the many artists who've performed at the St Andrews hotel, situated in Melbourne's outer eastern fringe. This album will be officially launched at the venue on the 14th, and is expected to be an all-cast-star performance supported by the Bluescasters.

'Live At The St Andrews Hotel' was recorded during a number of performances over the last 18 months. Artists featured are Dia Jones & Kerri Simpson, Texas Flood, Murcepts, Geoff Achison, the Bluescasters, Jeff Lang Band, Southbound, Lazy James Band, Jodie Moran & a concluding dialogue by Broderick Smith.

The St Andrews Hotel has become a favoured live recording venue with many artists, with Rob's audio skills much in demand.

Geelong based Chubby Rae And The Elevators led by Jim Dyson - guitar maker extraordinaire and fronted by Merissa Quigley AKA ‘Red’, is a band best described as authentic sounding good rockin’ Australian style blues. A fair swag of original material provided by Jim and Craig (Chiller) plus some classic blues covers guarantees a feast for blues lovers everywhere.
Merissa (joined the band after a trip to Geelong from Darwin, has a big voice and fronts the band with infectious enthusiasm. She has recently dipped her toe into the songwriting world and has produced great results so far.
Jim not only makes great electric, bass and lap steel guitars, but also has cultivated the aforementioned authentic sound via his beautifully refurbished Australian classic Goldentone amps.
Jim is also father to probably slightly more famous daughter, Mia Dyson, who when but a young thing used to come and sit in with Chubby Rae at St Andrews and would rip the place up with her wailing lap steel.
The rhythm section of Craig Chiller - bass and Karl Inderberg – drums, set the grooves and are the perfect foil for Jim’s chugging rhythm feels.

Live At St Andrews was recorded over the course of several gigs and is an excellent snapshot of the bands gigs at the time. Also featuring the gravel guts rasp of Geoff ‘Jerker’ Donaldson (ex Muddy Puddles) on blues harp and general mayhem. He is no longer with the band but his contributions to this cd speak for themselves.
The current line up features Lou Toff on sax who is tailor made for this band. He is Tight melodic funky and has fun with the banter between him and Merissa.
Chubby Rae are still regulars at St Andrews and as always a good time is had by all.

“His talent explodes on Live at St Andrews” Lee Howard Herald sun

This is simply Geoff and the gang captured at their finest moment...
Doesn’t matter if you have to pawn half your collection to get it, this will stand the test of time in being one of the most sensational live releases for many a year. I cant find the right words to say, really i am speechless. A definite must have.

Lee howard voted Geoff achison Live At St Andrews no 2 in his top ten list for 2000.

A further note that this album was recorded live by Rob Harwood, one who is proving to be exceptionally gifted. Rob also recorded the live albums ‘Live at Bruthen’ and Andy Cowans ‘One of these Days’.
A standing ovation to this talented recording whiz.

After returning from his 7th overseas tour, Harper, along with international guest musos and local talents Marcus Kurban and Mathew Vell, played at the much loved St Andrews Hotel where local engineer Rob Harwood plugged in his two track and recorded the performances for posterity.

The result is "Live at St Andrews"- a 12 track album featuring material from his 4 previous albums plus 2 bonus original tracks, "Mystery" and "I Really Dont Know". Original favourites "Aint Love Blind" and"Glass on The Stepping Stone" are included and Harper also pays homage to two inspirational songwriters with "Lonely Town"/"Better Off Dead" (Bill Withers) and "Help Me" (Sonny Boy Wiliamson 11 aka Rice Miller). "Live At St Andrews" is classic Harper; sweaty, soulful, powerful, amazing harmonic replete with wild squeals (have a listen to the killer harp intro to "Watch out for Me", a veritable tour de force) and world class musicianship. Harper's knack of combining soul, blues and rock (with an underlying nod to the 60's British Pop sound) to create an original roots sound has been long been the key to Harper's well deserved success.

Pealing, Carruthers and Young (PCY) are an amalgamation of powerful talent and pedigree from the Australian contemporary musical landscape.

Their debut CD “Live at St. Andrews’ (the pub, not the golf club!) is an array of impeccable, soaring harmonies, chunky steel- stringed acoustic guitars and a song selection that will have classic rock purists nodding their heads in sincere approval.

From Andy Durant’s “Look After Yourself” to the Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds classic “Don’t Pull Your Love Out” and the superbly handled Stephen Stills penned “Suite Judy Blue Eyes” this trio’s magic displays a mastery and emotion that is truly the sum of its parts and much more.

Mark Turner on vocals, Chris Natoli on guitar, Chris Gatanios on bass, Paul Worrall on drums and Peter Thorneycroft on harmonica are each exclusively talented.

The guitar riffs from Chris Natoli are the stand out here, we have one talented musician on our hands and it really does justice to listen to this one a few times as the more you listen, the more licks and riffs you discover.

As expected from any live situation there are a couple of small areas that are rough edged, but basically it is a solid and faithful reproduction of those days long gone by, when we used to hang out in dimly lit pubs and grog on to the sizzling sounds of our favorite artists. I'm going to go and grab a bottle of Jack Daniel's and party on..
